171-Year Old Doors Opening This Weekend ... For Free

If it's rainbow-colored elephants you're following, you have to assume that what's at the end of the pachyderm path is pretty neat.

Bethel won't debunk that theory this weekend because if you do happen to zip over to Main Street and follow the elephant trail past the old town jail, you'll find that you've gone back in time to 1842.

The Bethel Museum is opening its doors this weekend, free-of-charge, from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 20, at 40 Main St.

What will you see?

  • P.T. Barnum memorabilia
  • Vintage toys
  • A recent acquisition of an 1800's zinc gravestone
  • Old hatters' tools
  • The contents of the 84 Greenwood Time Capsule opened in April 2012 and more
