Town Meeting Sets Bethel Water Referendum

At a special town meeting Wednesday night, Bethel residents set the referendum vote for Thursday, July 18 to decide whether to sell the town’s water systems to Aquarion Water Company.

Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Residents and concerned parties had the opportunity to ask questions of representatives from Aquarion and the state regulatory agencies at a public hearing Monday night (view comments from the hearing here and here).

They will have another chance at a second public hearing, scheduled for Tuesday, July 16, beginning at 7 p.m. in the General Purpose Room of the Municipal Center.
