RAILROAD SAFETY, 4TH UPDATE: Howard Permut, Metro-North President, Announced Retirement

Due to a year of horrendous train accidents, injuries and deaths in Metro-North's three-decade history, Metro-North President Howard R. Permut, is stepping down and is expected to be replaced by Joseph Giulietti, the executive director of the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority, according to a NY Times article published January 6, 2014.
