Garbanzofest 2 - Garbanzofest Reworded - A Celebration of Words

Seraphemera Books and their Garbanzo Literary Journal (a handmade journal, full of the writings of forty four authors from around the world), in conjunction with independent bookseller Byrd’s Books and local coffeehouse Molten Java, are excited to announce the upcoming Garbanzofest 2 - Garbanzo Reworded “A Celebration of Words” - a community and family friendly party for the release of Garbanzo Literary Journal (book two).

Taking place on Saturday June 1st starting at 1pm, throughout Molten Java and Byrd’s Books at 213 Greenwood Avenue in Bethel CT, the event will feature live readings of stories and poems from a number of the authors published in Garbanzo, a number of authors reading their works via pre- recorded video or audio, an open-mic for anybody who would like to read their work, and a community writing event that will allow each participant to be a part of (and have their name published with) a piece of writing that will appear in Garbanzo Literary Journal (book three).

Adding sound and epic to the event are the musical talents of Them Damn Hamiltons (http://www.themdamnhamiltons.com/) with their "original dark indie New England folk with a touch of gypsy swagger and sea chantey stomp", and local songwriter/storytellers/all-around artists Lys Guillorn (http://www.lysguillorn/) and Elisa Flynn (http://www.elisaflynn.com/).

This is a free, all ages, kids and adults, ages 0 to 100 (and over if you happent to be) event, open to all interested in continuing the traditions of storytelling (which means both telling a tale as well as being the ears interested in listening - as all stories need an audience), anybody who is interested in hearing good local music that both moves the soul and the body (c’mon everybody, it is time to move - just follow the children who have no qualms about dancing to these artists), and anybody looking for a unique and creative event that is entirely put together by local artists and creators, looking to increase the artistic and imaginative culture in Bethel, CT.
