Moved into Newtown 1992 with spouse and children. My business background extends to ownership of two businesses based in Ridgefield CT. Both businesses operate out of our property on Main Street there. I have ownership and experience in Commercial Real Estate and a Luxury Retail Jewelry business. My involvement in community services: I served on the Board of Directors of the Ridgefield Chamber of Commerce, past Treasurer of the IAMAS, past Incorporator of the Fairfield County Bank, President of Addessi Jewelers, Inc, Member of Addessi Sqaure LLC.
I realize Newtown is struggling with FFH, development, planning, infrastucture and budget issues. It takes a long time to get things accomplised here.
Our sidewalks are almost non exisitent in key areas and are not interconnected, i.e. Main Street to Church Hill, Queen Street North to South end. Our roads are fair to good, our public safety(crosswalks, sidewalks, bike paths are very poor) for our kids is deplorable, our crosswalks needed painting and I've been after our town since last fall before school started.
I can see why so much has taken time too. There are many opinions from our residents which can be great, however, I see a small group running the town and that is not a good thing. Our opinions count but our politicians seem "frozen" and unable to take action. When it comes to FFH, the center of town, housing, commercal and more, I see us getting further into debt and not enough action is taken. FFH is a prime example of a failure.
I do hope leadership will shine on here and action will be taken to improve many important issues.
