New Memory Care Assisted Living Community Breaks Ground in Bethel, Connecticut

Bethel, CT, September 19, 2013 – Maplewood Senior Living along with the Bethel Chamber of Commerce will officially mark the commencement of construction for Maplewood’s newest assisted living and memory care community. A Ground Breaking Ceremony is scheduled on Wednesday, September 25th at 11 AM. The property, located at 46 Stony Hill Road in Bethel, will be known as Maplewood at Stony Hill. The community is positioned on a six-acre development site in Bethel, Connecticut, along the Route 6 corridor and scheduled to be completed by Fall of 2014.

Local and regional town representatives of Bethel will attend the ceremony including First Selectman Matthew Knickerbocker and Senator Michael McLachlan, along with representatives from Maplewood Senior Living and internationally recognized architectural firm, Perkins Eastman. The Alzheimer’s Association, Connecticut Chapter, will also attend the ceremony.  Media is invited to attend.

Maplewood at Stony Hill has been designed as an 84 unit, state-of-the-art assisted living community, fully dedicated to offering memory care to Northern Fairfield County seniors.  The building will consist of a mix of private, deluxe studio and one bedroom apartments for residents living with early, mid stage, and late stage Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. Maplewood is utilizing the “small house” concept in designing the building, incorporating smaller neighborhoods, each with its own services and amenities, which will resemble more of a naturally occurring, true to life, social model versus a larger, more institutionalized concept.

Maplewood has designed its signature high standard amentities into the property, featuring libraries, light filled lobbies and luxurious spas, in addition to outdoor gardens, terraces and porches, where residents and families can enjoy views of the surrounding countryside and water views. The neighborhood will also house a family and community Alzheimer’s and Dementia Education and Learning Center, filled with information, community support and resources for individuals seeking the much needed support to face Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia.  Maplewood will bring its signature farm to table dining experience to residents and will utilize “green design” in its approach to building the community and its environment.

The ground breaking ceremony will highlight the local economic boost created from the project, as well as the philosophy of the care, and the provision of much needed programs and services to the area’s seniors and their families.
