New "Single-Use" Mega-Development Proposed for Stony Hill Corridor

Area real estate tycoon and restauranteur Carlo Steinmetz  is reportedly submitting proposals to P&Z to build a much-needed "Pizza Plaza" in Stony Hill.

The development, nearly 8 acres and consisting of 3 single-story structures, is planned to house 27 different pizza restaurants ranging from deep dish Chicago Style to classic New York thin crust, brick oven artisinal pies, and even "Asian Pizza Fusion."

Adding to the carnival-like atmosphere will be a massive outdoor sound system that plays "Mambo Italiano" on continuous loop during normal business hours.

Steinmetz is optimistic about the project. "Bethel may be a small town, but c'mon - only 15 pizza joints?" he muses. "I mean, this is just a no brainer. I think there's definitely room for 27 more. Maybe 28 if we can get approval for the rooftop."

Area residents seemed a little less positive about the project.

"I'd be much happier with a smaller development, maybe 15 or 16 pizza places," said Donatello MacEwan, whose 2-acre property abuts the development. "And hey, I love Mambo Italiano, but would it kill 'em to mix in a little Sinatra every now and then?"
