'The Best Of Bethel': Class Of 2013 Graduates

Ready to enter the real world? These graduates are.

The Bethel High School class of 2013 graduated Wednesday before a packed crowd at the O'Neil Center on the Western Connecticut State University campus in Danbury.

The ceremony began to the tune of the Beatles' "In My Life," performed by the Bethel High School Chamber Singers. Speakers included Rockwell School principal Brian Kirmil and Valedictorian Aiden Ford, who asked some of the 238 graduating students to raise their hands to show the experiences they'd shared together in high school.

"The relationships we have created formed a rock-solid foundation over celebration and tragedy," she said. "Ultimately, we in 'Generation Z' are full of a zest for life."

Kirmil said his purpose was to help remember the learning experiences students had in their senior year, offering "helpful hints" for students leaving for their "most excellent and noble adventure."

"I trust that BHS was outstanding for you in so many different ways," he said. "Don't be afraid to spread your wings and fly off to find your dreams."

Class Presidents Megan Marx and Lauren Almond praised individual students for their virtues.

"We are a destructive force," said Marx. "We shatter school records ... We still have a sense of camaraderie and spirit in our entire community."

Almond also praised graduated as a "creative force" and a "dedicated force."

"Just wait until the best of Bethel attacks the world and makes these positive changes on a larger scale," said Marx.
