Keeping DAWS Animals Cool During Hot Weather

"Air conditioning is most important to keep the animals cool during the hot weather," said Lauri Romandi, Dog Co-chair at DAWS.  "We also keep kiddy pools in the yard for them to play in."

Dog water buckets in the kennels are normally kept full, and more buckets are in the yards, Romandi said.  "It depends on how much they run around. Exercise is the same as on regular weather days but dogs are brought in quicker if they are hot."

Romandi said dogs are under a roof outside of their kennel. "Dogs are brought in and out more frequently instead of leaving the kennel doors open, to not let the air conditioning out."
