Bethel Bandits Girl’s Soccer Team Advances to Finals of State Cup

Information provided by Alysa DeLuca.

Congratulations to the U11 girl’s soccer team for bringing home another win this past weekend. The girls, coached by Warren Delaney, replayed their snow-shortened State Cup Semi-Final game Saturday; they beat the Danbury Twisters 1-0 to advance to the State Cup Finals and a shot at the title of U11 State Championship.

The match was a tough physical contest with the Twisters getting home field advantage. Both teams traded possession of the ball with many tough tackles and outstanding headers during a scoreless first half where the Bandits pressed Danbury with an unrelenting offensive attack.

The second half started with the same intensity. The Bandits would dominate possession of the half and with ten minutes of play remaining broke through the Twister defense to score the winning goal! The Bandit defense made sure Danbury would not see another shot on goal for the remainder of the game
