Today's Lacrosse and Softball Scores

Lookin' good, Lacrosse! Currently undefeated!

Bethel High School’s Boys Lacrosse team is the only undefeated team in the state.

Bethel High School’s Boys Lacrosse team is having a spectacular season. They are currently undefeated, 10-0, the only undefeated team in the state.  Coach Keith Marotta and Coach Mark Doolan have nurtured and developed the BHS  boys lacrosse team  from a program that started in 2007 with a 20 man roster, into a program with over 40 players in 2012. The success of the team is a direct result of the hard work and dedication of its coaches and players. Led by 5 skilled seniors, as well as a talented group of juniors, sophomores and freshmen, the team is having the most successful season in the program’s short history.  Next Thursday night, May 10th at 7 PM, Bethel will host New Fairfield and honor our Senior players. Come out and enjoy some great lacrosse!

Congratulations to the Lacrosse Team! Way to go. Keep up the good work! Bethel Patch, Alicia takes great sports photos and has always done a great job. Please use her. Claire, you may want to check your facts of when Boys Lacrosse began...There was a Boys Lacrosse team (not sure whether it was club still for two years or a full fledged Varsity team) during some of the years when my older daughter and son were at BHS 2000 - 2006. Maybe you were saying in your article that 2007 is when the current coaches took over, but for accuracy, it's important to know the Boy's Lacrosse program existed at Bethel High School prior to 2007.

You are absolutely correct and I apologize for the error in my article. BHS had lacrosse in 2004 - Club Team, 2005 - Varsity Team, 2006 - Unable to populate a Varsity roster due to a lack of players. Therefore, I should have used the term "re-started" the program in 2007. My intention was not to diminish anyone's efforts to establish a lacrosse program at BHS, it was only to celebrate the sport of lacrosse and the team's success. Thank you

Great work with the program and hope they continue to do well. The drop to Division II is certainly helpful in their ability to perform at another level. The program began as a club in the Spring of 2002 and continued as a club until 2004. The program moved to a Varsity Sport in 05 and 06 and wasn't able to finish a full season in 2007 due to lack of players, injuries and students being asked not to play. The programs history posted a lot of great milestones from getting 3 wins in their first season and moving to only posting 2 losses to Barlow in the 2003 season. Its great what the Youth program has done with helping players want to join the sport- hopefully the high school will continue to recognize that players that are freshmen still have more experience than seniors that haven't picked up a stick ever before.
