Second Rockwell, Johnson Workshop to be Held Tonight

A message from Board of Education Chairman Larry Craybas.

The on the facilities study for Johnson and Rockwell Schools was held on Monday, May 23.  At that time, participants had the opportunity to walk the facility.

The audience heard an overview from Jim Barrett of DRA Architects and then the attendees organized themselves into three discussion groups.  Conversation focused on the nature and future socio-economic patterns in Bethel, the physical conditions of the buildings, and the projected educational demands to be placed on these buildings in the years ahead. The purpose of these discussions was for the architects to gather community input and perceptions on the current state of these facilities.  The evening was quite productive.

Even if you did not participate in the first workshop, we encourage your participation in a second session which is scheduled for Monday evening June 13.   This session will be held at the Rockwell School Cafeteria, 7 p.m. start time, with the school open for tours at 6:30 p.m.

At this session, the DRA personnel will summarize their observations after studying the infra-structure and the use of the buildings. They will point out the strengths and areas of potential concern in each facility. Again on this evening, the chief concern is to solicit questions and ideas from those in attendance. A third session is planned for September.

Lawrence Craybas, Chairman
Bethel Board of Education
