There are certain websites high school students shouldn’t be able to access on a school computer. But Andrew Lampart, a senior at Nonnewaug High School in Woodbury, CT, was surprised to find many conservative or right-leaning websites blocked by his school’s firewall, The Connecticut Post reports.

The 18-year-old says he was in the library doing research on gun control for an assignment last month when he realized he couldn’t access the websites of Second Amendment groups, anti-abortion and traditional marriage organizations and the Connecticut Republican Party.

“The web sites should be unblocked so that students can get different viewpoints from different sides of each argument,” Lampart told Fox Connecticut.

  • We want to hear from you: how do you feel about students being blocked from conservative websites? Tell us in the poll or Comments section.

Lampart lodged a formal complaint with the Region 14 Board of Education Monday night, after initially contacting the school’s superintendent.

The screenshots Lambert took of the blocked sites can be seen at The Connecticut Post.

In a statement released Thursday, the Superintendent of the School District Jody Ian Goeler said their internet filter “satisfies requirements of the Children’s Internet Protection Act.”

He explained that the filter is provided by an outside company, which electronically filters a website’s content to judge its suitability for high school students.

“The district is trying to determine the reason for the inconsistency and if the bias is pervasive enough to justify switching to another content filtering provider.  The district does not block individual sites, only categories of websites,” continued Goeler.

Do you consider these websites to have content inappropriate for high school students?

This is the new Liberal America we live in and it will only get worse.

And the new Conservative America we live in sees itself as perpetually picked on and victimized, and having a sad because kids are made to behave in school (Diane's darlings are 'just being kids' when they continually disrupt class work! So much for teaching accountability in the world of the 'oppressed' and 'victimized' conservative). What happened to the old pulling oneself up by the bootstraps, Bob?? Apparently that only applies to the poor and minorities, not victimy Cons whining about Liberal meanies. The entire rightwing needs to grow up and grow a pair. Until that happens, your days as a viable party are numbered.

I am FAR FROM right wing - so please don't make assumptions. The "little darlings" I am referring to are not those students being disruptive in class so again, do not make assumptions. But, when kindergarten kids are suspended for giving hugs and the like at recess, there is something insanely wrong. Hugs at recess are not disruptive to class time nor are they something that should cause concern as such a young age. Wearing a shirt with an american flag is not disruptive to class and the student should not be asked to either change or leave for the day (suspension). There are many many other instances that have been in the news over the past several years, and I'm quite sure the number of occurrences that don't make the news is much higher.

D'Souza's "2016: Obama’s America" is now the world’s #2 top grossing documentary of all time, for good reason--after the devastation wreaked upon our Nation by the disastrous current occupant of the WH.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------D'Souza's "America: Imagine the World Without Her" has gross Box Office receipts of over 4 Million $$ in the first 3 DAYS, just through Friday. It should be seen by all Americans, especially those who want truth, and those who care about all of our futures--around the world, not just here in the U.S.!

Right-wing author and filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza copped a plea for illegal campaign contributions. He is hardly a pillar of respectability. I am not quite sure what psychiatric/psychology background DOCTOR D'Souza has to substantiate his "facts" in his 2010 book, “The Roots of Obama’s Rage” (having based it on heresay and having never met the man). It is equally baffling how a complete nutjob who came here as an exchange student can conspiracy theory his way onto talk shows and book shelves. He's a Class A #1 kook.
