New Bethel Tutoring Center Has Big Plans Ahead

The Tutoring Center can accommodate any age or field of study and may offer lectures.

Elizabeth Feola has opened The Tutoring Center at 109 Greenwood Ave, next to Famous Pizza. Feola’s background includes teaching the violin for ten years and tutoring for Ace Tutoring Center through the Naugatuck Valley Community College. While she grew up in Wilton, Feola said she has always loved Bethel and that she loves working downtown.

“My husband and I were walking around looking for a spot and there was nothing like this here. I kept seeing this space but it was always occupied,” she said, pointing out how the space is perfectly suited to accommodate different ages of students, and different areas for study.

Feola said that her own strengths have been in writing and history.  “When I was 19, I had a book published.  It was called “My Best Fried Is Pregnant.”  It was before all these tv shows with teens getting pregnant.”

Feola also won first prize in Poetry at Naugatuck Community College.

Now that the center is up and running, Feola said they will be offering one-to-one private tutoring for students through college and even those seeking their Ph.D..  The cost for tutoring sessions runs from $30-75 per one-to-one session, but the study center alone is $250 a month, for two hours a day, ages 12 and up.  “That includes homework help, study help, and if they just need their work checked, a tutor can help,” she said.

Feola said that the tutors will determine the best way students learn, so they will enjoy learning. “There are card games for young children, it is not a restrictive environment,” she promised.

Right now the center has 10 tutors and is still interviewing more.

Other plans for the space may include general admission lectures on art, history.  “We may even do something with Halloween,” Feola said.

The center is open Mon-Fri 2 - 8p.m.  and Sat 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. Bethel Tutoring and Study Center, 109 Greenwood Ave, BethelTutoring.com

"Bethel teachers are not only educating students, but when society lets kids down, it’sRead More teachers who step in to fill the gap." Explain to me how an average salary of $60,000 per year for working 183 days during that year and an EXTREMELY generous retirement package (compared to the 240 a year the rest of us have to work) considered "society letting them down"?
