The Girls of BHS Swim team took ninth place at the Splash Classic in Plainville this weekend.
"Splash" is the Connecticut state finals for Girls' swimming during the Boys' winter season, and the Wildcats scored their best overall finish and highest points ever (68).
Perennial powerhouse Avon High, won the meet with 310 points, while local teams Joel Barlow (40), Oxford (29) and Danbury (29) also swam well.

Earning medals for top six finishes were junior Sarah Whalen (6th in 500 Free) and freshman Olivia Wootton, who took a pair of 4th places in the 200 Free and 100 Free. Whalen just missed out on another medal by less than half a second finishing 7th with an awesome 2:31, almost 4 seconds faster than her previous best in the 200 IM.
Also scoring points for the Wildcats were the three strong relay teams. Leading off the meet, the 200 yard Medley team of backstroke Aiden Ford, breaststroke Molly Nichols, butterfly Sarah Whalen and freestyle Molly Gallagher finished 9th with 2:14.97.

The speedsters of the 200 Free Relay also took 9th a 1:55.55 with senior captain Katie Bozzuti leading off, followed by Gallagher, Helen Belato and anchored by Wootton.
Confident that the team was having a great day, the 400 Free Relay team ended the meet with a huge 7th place finish with a 4:10.99. Tearing up the pool were Whalen, Bozzuti, Ford and anchor Wootton, who swam a season best 57.80.
Coach Katie McGowan is proud of her team's top finish and can look forward to the future too as only two seniors, Bozzuti and Caitlin Pirro, were among the twenty swimmers competing at this year's Splash. Many of these swimmers will be back in the pool this week competing at the SWC Championships at Masuk High.
