The meet, which took place at the Western Connecticut State University pool, was attended by special guests Margie Zowine, BHS swimming's first coach; former captains Kevin Thai and Mike Murphy, and 18 BHS alumni.

The final score was close with the "Captain's gift" of a 20 point lead from Senior Captain Katie Bozzuti.  It wasn't until the last event, the 400 Free relay, that the winner was decided, with the BHS team winning 99-95 over the Alumni.

The Alumni opened the meet with the 200 Medley Relay, with a surprising 5+ second win with P.J. Closius ('09), Tate Rogers ('09), Brendan Fox ('08) and freestyle anchor, former 2005 captain Billy Doling. Head Coach Katie McGowan's current BHS stars of Katie Bozzuti, Tucker Bjornson and Kevin Gallagher quickly turned the tides.

Sophomore James Canfield dropped almost 7 seconds off his current season best to edge out recent 2011 graduate Kyle Rogers with a very impressive 1:13 SWC qualifying time in the 100 Fly race. Canfield also took a 1st place in the 50 Free with a 26.6 time.

The meet turned into a series of "friendly" team disqualifications to avoid losing, but the team of Kevin Michalka, Helen Belato finished with the "winner take all" 400 Free relay.

Mike Vaghi and Danielle Burton swam strong and won the meet for BHS.   Canfield took "Swimmer of the Meet", 2010 graduate Christine Neville was named "Alumni of the Meet" and senior newcomer Juan Ayala was named "Most Promising Swimmer" for his hardwork at practice and improved times. Coach McGowan took home the "Alumni Cup" trophy for the second straight year and now holds a 2-1 victory lead.

A pizza party and award ceremony followed the meet.

Special thanks to all the coaches and parents who make this this team stronger by attending every meet as the best fans, timers, and helpers.
