Bethel Boys Lacrosse Brings Home First SWC Title

In a stellar game, Bethel outscored Pomperaug with seconds left to break an 11-11 tie to win.

BETHEL 12, POMPERAUG 11

Frankie Magrone, Troy Deyo, Brian Crosby, Joey Piatnik and James Giannone

all scored goals to lead Bethel over Pomperaug.

It was an amazing game!  Brian Crosby scored the winning goal.  The last minutes were so intense, parents couldn't breathe.

This nail biter game was the first SWC win since the program started, seven years ago.

Nick Silva of Bethel was named MVP of the game. Nick played quick and strong defense and was key with ground ball recovery.

Crosby's late goal with seconds left propelled the Wildcats to a victory. Coach Marotta was on Cloud Nine, speechless and emotional when talking with his team as they celebrated his first SWC Championship as coach. Bethel now prepares for States this coming week.

Congraulations to an outstanding team. Best of luck in the states! Special thanks to Alicia Craybas for all the spectacular photos through out the regular season. We relatives who live far away and can not attend many games appreciate them.

Well Done!!! Good to see lacrosse has taken hold in Bethel Sports. My son played his freshmen year at Bethel with the schools first attempt at the sport. They struggled for a couple of years and didn't have a team to field his senior year. He coached most of these boys as they learned the game as 12/13 year olds. Hope Bethel continues to support what is one of the most exciting games in team sports.
