28 Days of Hope A time to strengthen the community of Bethel and stand with the community of Newtown

As the first anniversary of the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School approaches, communities in the surrounding towns have been asked to commemorate the day by engaging in activities that strengthen their towns and create hope.  In this spirit, the pastors of three Bethel faith communities are organizing “28 Days of Hope” for their community.

28 Days of Hope begins on December 14 with the tolling of the church bells at 9:30am.  That evening, a Walk for Hope will be held at the Bethel High School track from 5:30-7:30pm.  The first 300 participants will be able to create a luminary and add it to the memorial display. Everyone is invited to walk along the path of candles and meditate or pray.

Every day from December 14-January 10, a member of the Bethel community will offer a reflection on “What gives me hope”.  These messages will be posted on www.28daysofhope.wordpress.com.
