Relay For Life Kick-off Rally -- Tuesday, January 22

Join us for the 2013 Relay For Life of Bethel Kick-off Rally!

The basics:

What: Relay For Life of Bethel Kick-off Rally

When: Tuesday, January 22, 7:00 - 8:30 pm

Where: Bethel High School Cafeteria

The good stuff:

What the heck is Relay For Life?

Relay For Life is a community-based, grass-roots fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.  Teams of 8-15 friends, family members, co-workers, classmates, etc. take turns walking laps around the track (hence the "Relay" part of this).  In the weeks and months prior to Relay, teams work together to raise money for the American Cancer Society.  This year's Relay For Life of Bethel will take place on Saturday, June 8.

More information about Relay in general, and the Bethel event in particular, can be found on our website:  http://www.relayforlife.org/bethelct

Neat, so what's this Kick-off business?

Kick-off is a great way for Relay veterans to hear about what's new for 2013, and for Relay newcomers to learn a little bit of what Relay is all about.  We'll have plenty of information to pass out, you'll get to hear from this year's event chairpersons, and you'll even have a chance to register your Relay team!

Sounds good -- but will there be food?

Of course!  This year's Relay theme is "Birthday Parties", so we'll have some birthday cake to share (along with some other munchies).  We'll also have some fun birthday party games!

We hope to see you there!

Jessica, what do you mean 'when society lets them down'? I'm struggling to understand what you areRead More trying to convey... Please elaborate if you can.

"Bethel teachers are not only educating students, but when society lets kids down, it’sRead More teachers who step in to fill the gap." Explain to me how an average salary of $60,000 per year for working 183 days during that year and an EXTREMELY generous retirement package (compared to the 240 a year the rest of us have to work) considered "society letting them down"?

It was a great job Mike and the EDC did on keeping the jobs from Cannondale from leaving Bethel. TooRead More bad Paul Z. won't have the guts to ask you about it on this "lively" show.

Billy: Since I don't own a beat up 1998 Honda (rather, a non-beat up, rather nice, rather newRead More European sedan) does that mean I would have been immune to the seduction of the reduction in my property taxes? Just trying to follow your logic here...
