Relay For Life -- It's Not Just For Humans

As anyone who has followed this blog knows, the 2013 Relay For Life of Bethel will take place on June 8th.  There, we will celebrate cancer survivors in the community, and honor the caregivers who stood by them during their fights.

One group of caregivers, though, will not get to participate in Relay For Life.  These caregivers were always there for their cancer patients, with steadfast loyalty and unconditional love.  

I'm referring, of course, to our canine caregivers.

Bark For Life is a dog walk event to fight cancer, and will take place on Saturday, May 18th at Meckauer Park in Bethel.  Registration begins at 11:00 am, with the group dog walk around the park starting shortly after noon.  Dogs -- and their owners -- will have an opportunity to participate in games and contests before and after the walk.

Registration is $10 per dog if registered by May 17th, and $15 per dog at the event.  Registered dogs will receive a Bark For Life bandana and a poop bag.  All dogs must show a proof of Rabies vaccine.  

Some of the contests include:  Most Talented, Best Smile, Owner / Dog Look Alike, and Most Relay Spirit.  Dogs can also participate in bobbing for hot dogs as well as Musical "Sit".  

Registration forms and additional information can be found on our Bark For Life website.  Walkers without dogs are also welcome to join the fun.
