Reasons to Relay #7 -- Fight Back

Relay gives community members a chance to fight back against cancer.

The 2013 Relay For Life of Bethel is an overnight, grassroots fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.  This year's event will take place on Saturday, June 8.  Since it's 2013, we'll be sharing 13 reasons why YOU should join us at Relay For Life.  Reason #7 is Fight Back.

After we celebrate victories over cancer with the Survivor Lap and remember those we've lost during the Luminaria Ceremony, it's time to take action.  The Relay For Life Fight Back Ceremony gives each individual a chance to make a commitment to take concrete steps in the fight against cancer.

For some, it's a personal commitment -- eat healthier;  exercise more;  get regular physicals and cancer screenings.  Others make a commitment to help others -- encourage a friend to stop smoking;  educate a family member on the importance of sunscreen;  drive a loved one to a doctor's appointment.  Some individuals make a larger commitment -- joining the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) or volunteering for their local Relay For Life.

In the end, each person is making a commitment to join the fight against cancer and to help save lives.  Imagine if everyone in the community made such a commitment -- imagine the lives that could be saved from cancer.

So -- what will you do to Fight Back?
