Work Resumed on Walnut Hill Bridge Monday at Dawn

Construction work delayed since early August resumed early Monday morning.

Construction crews were on site and back at work Monday morning on the bridge over Limekiln Brook at the intersection of Walnut Hill Road and Taylor Road.

Work began at dawn Monday, according to First Selectman Matthew Knickerbocker, beginning by “restarting the pumps to dewater the site and do some prep work.”

With the new design plans in place and crew back at work on site, the contractors, J. Iapaluccio Inc., have set a schedule to have a temporary deck over the brook by the end of December.

“This is very dependent on having good weather and not finding anymore problems when the geotechnical subcontractor starts deep drilling,” Knickerbocker said Monday, noting that the December timetable is “the contractor’s rough estimate, not a promise.”
