“Young children and educational quality and access have always been top priorities in my public service work,” Sen. Boucher said. “A highly trained and educated Connecticut work force is vital in today's global economy.  It is a real privilege to be engaged in the process of  shaping public policy in this important area and to collaborate with early childhood advocates and my peers to create the most effective early childhood policies for our state.  Research shows that  investments in this age group will give us the greatest return on investment  and help us close our achievement gap.   I commend the Connecticut Early Childhood Alliance for its strong advocacy surrounding pre-school and early childhood education and promoting best practices in child development. I am truly honored to again be named a Children’s Champion.”

Sen. Boucher also received the Children’s Champion award from the Alliance in 2013, 2012 and 2009. She is currently the Senate Ranking Member of the state legislature’s Education Committee and Higher Education Committee.
