The Connecticut Early Childhood Alliance honored 29 legislators, including Rep. Dan Carter (R-2nd Assembly District), of Bethel, on June 6 for their strong commitment to making children’s issues a priority in Hartford. These issues include the areas of learning (particularly early learning), health, safety and economic security, all issues that are important to the Alliance.
In all, seven senators and 22 representatives were honored. Rep. Michelle Cook (D-65th Assembly District) and Sen. Beth Bye (D-5th District) were honored as “Legislators of the Year.”
“Reps. Carter, Godfrey and Lyddy were chosen because they have been outspoken in their support of early childhood and have shown an understanding of the positive impact early childhood initiatives can have on families and communities,” said Connecticut Early Childhood Alliance Executive Director Maggie Adair.

“Given the state of our economy and the financial pressure it exerts on so many Connecticut families, this organization’s efforts to help children are more important than ever,” Carter said. “It’s an honor to be recognized for my efforts to make sound decisions for families in my district and this state.”
The Connecticut Early Childhood Alliance is a group of organizations and individuals committed to improving developmental outcomes in the areas of learning, health, safety and economic security for children ages birth to eight. Member organizations employ over 3,000 Connecticut residents and provide care and education for nearly 20,000 children.
