Senatorial Debate

The Fairfield County Democrats will be hosting a Democratic Senatorial Debate with Congressman Christopher Murphy and former Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz on Wednesday, May 23rd, 7 PM at the Westport Town Hall, 110 Myrtle Avenue. Dr Gary Rose, Chairman of the Department of Government and Politics at Sacred Heart University will be the moderator for the hour-long debate.

Congressman Christopher Murphy, the endorsed candidate of the Connecticut Democratic Party for United States Senate is a three term congressman. Susan Bysiewicz was the Secretary of the State from 1999 to 2011 who received enough delegate votes at the convention to primary for the senate seat. The primary is scheduled for August 14th.

Dr Gary Rose is the author of ten books on political and government issues.  His most recent book, Connecticut’s Fourth Congressional District: History, Politics and the Maverick Tradition regarding the 2010 Congressional election in 4th Congressional District, which includes Fairfield County.

“I am very pleased that so many of the communities in Fairfield County have come together to present the debate,” according to Jim Ezzes Chairman of the Westport Democratic Town Committee. “It is important that voters make an educated decision.”

The debate is free and open to the public. Following the debate refreshments will be served and people will have a chance to talk with the candidates and Dr. Rose.
