Bethel Memorial Day Parade and Ceremonies

The Bethel Patriotic Association announces that the Bethel Memorial Day Parade and Ceremonies will take place on Sunday, May 22.

A breakfast for Bethel and Redding Veterans will is set from 7:30-10 a.m. Sunday morning at the Joseph W.. Tarrant Jr. American Legion Post 100 building, 7 Elizabeth St., Bethel.

At 12 p.m., a wreath placing ceremony will take place at the monument in P.T. Barnum Square, then the contingency will march to Center Cemetery to place a wreath at the monument there.

The parade starts at 2 p.m. in front of the Hub Shopping Center and American Pride, LLC. The parade route heads up Greenwood Avenue, turning left at P.T. Barnum Square and left again onto School Street ending in front of the monument at the Municipal Center.

Immediately following the parade, Memorial Day Ceremony will commence on the lawn in front of the steps to the Municipal Center. The Ceremony consists of a guest speaker, reading of essays from the two student winners, reading of Logan’s Orders, reading the names of Bethel’s deceased veterans from the past year, TAPS, and wreath placing from Veteran Organizations.
