Don't Forget To Pay Your Taxes

Bethel personal property and motor vehicle taxes are due in the month of July, which means there's less than two weeks left to pay your taxes (if you haven't yet.) Fortunately, the Bethel tax collector's office has set up a way to pay online. Follow this link to search by name, address or bill number.

"You can do everything right on the website," said assistant tax collector Paula Usher. "Anyone can pull up anyone's tax bills, and if you have any questions, you're welcome to call any time."

The tax collector's office also offers a FAQ covering such questions as:
"Could I be eligible for an exemption?"
"What if I never received a tax bill?"
"I have moved. What is my tax jurisdiction for motor vehicle taxes?"
(For the answers to these and more questions, see the FAQ document on the tax collector's website.)

Don't be late: after August 1, late files will be charged 1.5 percent interest each month. The 2012 grand list mill rate is 31.5.
