Carter Celebrates New Danbury Transfer Station

A press release from Bryan Sundie at 860-240-8475.

State Rep. Dan Carter on July 14 joined Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton and other town officials to announce that Winter Brothers Systems has bought the Danbury Transfer Station.

During the news conference, company executive Joe Winters described the company’s plans to increase productivity by installing a second scale for garbage carriers, and increase the recycling efforts by investing in the infrastructure of the facility on White Street.

Winter Brothers also displayed the company’s new recycling and trash combination trucks that have a built-in mechanical system that picks up the special 96-gallon garbage and recycling trash cans. The truck then hauls the separated trash and recycling in a process called “single stream recycling.”

Carter toured the facility with Winters and discussed the future of the company’s business with Danbury.

“As a legislator, it’s my responsibility to support the growth of companies that are a vital part to our society,” Carter said. “The investments that the Winter Brothers is making will not only lead to the creation of more jobs in our community, but will also aid in the improvement of our local environment.”
