Carter Appointed to Special Education Council

A press release from the office of Bethel resident and new state representative Dan Carter.

HARTFORD — State Rep. Dan Carter was appointed to the State’s Advisory Council for Special Education this week by House Republican Leader Larry Cafero.

Carter’s term on the council will last two years, concluding in June 2011. Among the tasks of the council is to identify the unmet needs of children with special education needs and to participate with the state Board of Education in developing any state plan for the provision of special education.

“Providing quality education, and particularly special education, is among most important and challenging issues facing our state and nation,” Carter said, also a member of the state legislature’s Public Health Committee. “I accept this council assignment with open arms.”
