Campaign Notebook: Gov. Malloy Tells Murphy to Fight Back

News and updates from the campaign trail in Connecticut.

Senate

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy has some advice for fellow Democrat Chris Murphy: fight back. CTNewsJunkie.com reports that Malloy offered up his thoughts at a ribbon-cutting ceremony in Hartford.

Polls show the Senate race at a stastical dead heat despite Connecticut’s preference for Democrats. Linda McMahon has been outspending Murphy with her personal wealth.

Malloy reportedly said that, “sooner or later people have to talk about policies.”

Fifth District

Andrew Roraback’s campaign is asking local TV stations to pull “false” ads paid for by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. He is also threatening legal action and asking Elizabeth Esty to denounce the ad, reports Patch.

The letter from Roraback’s campaign said: “Without a doubt, the Advertisement contains false information deliberately intended to mislead Connecticut voters and defame Roraback’s reputation. Because the Advertisement conveys messages that are plainly disproven by fact, we respectfully demand that your station immediately stop airing the Advertisement and that no further airings of this misleading content be allowed on your station.”

In announcing the release of the ad, the DCCC said, "The ad highlights that Roraback is running on the ticket with the Republican plan to end Medicare and force Connecticut seniors to pay $6,400 more every year to fund tax breaks for millionaires."

"Bethel teachers are not only educating students, but when society lets kids down, it’sRead More teachers who step in to fill the gap." Explain to me how an average salary of $60,000 per year for working 183 days during that year and an EXTREMELY generous retirement package (compared to the 240 a year the rest of us have to work) considered "society letting them down"?
