BOE Passes Budget, Now Moves to Board of Finance and Board of Selectmen

A revised budget now down from original 4.98 increase

 

 

The Board of Education approved the 2012-2013 Superintendent's Budget at Thursday night's meeting. Details were revealed in a briefing summary provided by Board of Finance Director of Fiscal Services, Theresa Yonski.

 The original request for the Superintendent's Budget was $39,881,875, for a 4.98 percent increase.

 In recent weeks, the administration made reductions of $70,950 including $11,050 for a state mentor stipend reimbursement, $23,500 in furniture and $36,400 in small increments throughout other accounts.

 

By school and department, the reductions were:


Bethel High School $22,500

Bethel Middle School $7,000,

R.M.T. Johnson School $6,000

Frank A. Berry School $5,000

Anna Rockwell School $18,000

Special Education $1,400

Curriculum stipends $11,050

 

The proposed budget is now $39,810,925 for a 4.79 percent increase.

 

The budget is comprised of:

Salaries 1.84 percent

Benefits 1.22 percent

Transportation/Tuition 0.37 percent

Education Jobs Funding 1.26 percent

Other 0.10 percent

 Total 4.79

 

A motion was made, stating, “The Bethel Board of Education adopts a proposed operating budget of $39,810,925 for the 2012-2013 fiscal year for presentation to the Board of Finance and Board of Selectmen.”

 The meeting for the presentation of the budget to Board of Selectmen and the Board of Finance will be held on February 28.
