Bethel Receives $750K Grant for Train Station Parking

In what can only be characterized as Connecticut prioritizing state transportation projects, the Bethel Train Station has been approved for a state grant allocation of $750,000 for parking expansion.

Rep. Scribner has worked in conjunction with local officials, as well as DOT officials and colleagues to prioritize this bond request he submitted several years ago.

Rep. Scribner said, a longest-serving leader of the legislature's Transportation Committee, as well as a long time member of the Finance Revenue & Bonding Committee and each of it's sub-committee', Transportation Bonding and General Bonding,  “I am keenly aware of the need to improve the train station facility and parking in downtown Bethel. With ever growing volume of rail commuters, the need to enhance & improve services and accommodations has grown significantly.”

“The Bethel rail station is used not only by Bethel residents, but others throughout the region including Brookfield, Danbury, Newtown and Redding. The state created a long term plan to enhance mass transit, including rail service, this is an example of the state living up to that commitment,” concluded Rep. Scribner.
