Bethel Budget Referendum Recount Set for Tuesday Morning

Election officials will be double-checking Thursday's narrow referendum results.

Bethel’s Registrars and election officials will be holding a hand recount of votes from Thursday’s 2014-15 budget referendum, which saw the municipal budget pass by a mere three votes.

The recount will begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday in the General Purpose room in Town Hall.

Officials will be going through every ballot to determine if they were marked properly. If so, they will be set aside to be machine counted again as usual; if not, officials will try to determine voter intent and those ballots will hand counted and added to the final tally.

The recount is open to the public and residents are encouraged to attend.
