Police: Woman Borrows Car From Friend, Keeps It

Bethel police say the woman used the car for several days without permission and crashed it.

Marissa Palumbo, 21, of Terry Drive in Danbury, was arrested on charges of larceny of a motor vehicle and criminal trover for allegedly borrowing her friend's car and then keeping it.

According to police, Palumbo was given permission to drive a car to the police station by an acquaintance who was arrested in a seperate case. Palumbo drove the car to the police station but left shortly thereafter, the police report states.

Palumbo never made any atempt to return the car to the owner, nor did she contact the owner, police said. She drove the car several times over the next few days and, at an unknown location, she crashed it into a pole in a parking lot, which damaged the rear bumper, according to police.

Police said the car and Palumbo were found at her residence on Aug. 28, and she was charged on Aug. 30. Palumbo was held on $1,500 bond by Bethel police.

"Bethel teachers are not only educating students, but when society lets kids down, it’sRead More teachers who step in to fill the gap." Explain to me how an average salary of $60,000 per year for working 183 days during that year and an EXTREMELY generous retirement package (compared to the 240 a year the rest of us have to work) considered "society letting them down"?
