Route 53 Reported Still Closed Due to Flooding

Heavy rains from past couple days cause flooding in Bethel.

Update 4:33 p.m.
The Bethel Police just sent out a new notice saying that Route 53 is NOT open for traffic. This conflicts with a report sent out just after noon. Either They have closed it again, or it has been closed all afternoon. 

Patch will post once Route 53 is open again.  

Update 12:15 p.m.
The Bethel Police sent out a notice at 12:09 p.m. to let residents know that one lane is now open on Route 53, "from Francis J. Clarke Park to Redding."

According to a released police statement, Route 53 in Bethel from the Francis J. Clark Park to the south of Nashville Road will be closed Wednesday.

Heavy rains have caused flooding, fallen power lines and a fallen tree.

Police will notify Patch when the section of Route 53 will reopen.
