Swerving, Failure to Stop Lead to DUI
Police charge Bethel man with operating under the influence Friday.
Bethel police observed Joseph Mirabelli, 57, of Grassy Plain Street, Bethel, driving on South Street and crossing over the centerline several times around 9:05 p.m. on Aug. 16.
Officers also reportedly saw Mirabelli fail to stop at the sign on Blackman Ave.
Police conducted a traffic stop and after speaking with Mirabelli suspected him to be operating under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Mirabelli failed several field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest on charges of operating under the influence, failure to obey a stop sign and failure to drive right.
He was released on bond pending a court date set for Aug. 29.
