Sunday's Fire on Blackman Ave

Wood stove thought responsible for fire

At approximately 3:30 Sunday afternoon, a neighbor called the Bethel Volunteer Fire Department to report a fire at 13 Blackman Avenue.

According to Firefighter Dan Fredericks, it appears that the fire started within the pipe of a wood stove and set fire to the roof. The roof sustained damage, but the rest of the house did not. The owner of the dwelling was not home at the time and no one else was home when the fire was reported.

While both the Stony Hill Fire Department and Bethel Volunteer Fire Departments covered the fire, the Dodgington Fire Department covered the South Street station.
