Shelton Man Charged in 2012 Assault, Robbery at Bethel Dry Cleaner

Man serving time at Cheshire Correctional Center charged in April 2012 robbery.

A Shelton man was charged by Bethel police on Aug. 29 for an alleged assault and robbery at a local dry cleaner in April 2012.

Christopher French, 37, of Huntington Heights, Shelton, was arrested while being transported from Cheshire Correctional Center to Danbury Superior Court for a Habeas Corpus appearance.

According to Bethel police, the arrest was a result of an investigation into the 2012 dry cleaners robbery in which the clerk was assaulted and money was taken.

French also displayed a fake gun while ordering the clerk to open the register.

He was held for arraignment but did not enter a plea. Another court date has been scheduled for Sept. 23.
