Stephen Barone, 39 of Seymour, was arrested for operating under the influence last week on Maple Avenue. Prior to this, the Bethel Police had received a complaint about a erratic driver. According to the police, Barone was found stopped for "an exceptionally long time" at a stop sign with no traffic at the intersection at of Maple and Hickok Avenues.
Barone "smelled of alcohol" and admitted to drinking prior to driving. He failed sobriety tests and was subsequently arrested. Barone was released on $500 surety bond and is scheduled to appear in court at 10 a.m. Feb. 24.
