Redding Man Stopped for No Tail Lights, Charged with DUI

Traffic stop for tail lights leads to DUI and speeding charge, as well.

Bethel police were conducting a routine patrol at 1:48 a.m. on Sept. 28 when officers observed a motor vehicle traveling fast on Greenwood Ave. without tail lamps illuminated.

They conducted a motor vehicle stop and field sobriety test on the operator, John Shea, 32, of Newtown Turnpike, Redding, and found him to be intoxicated.

Shea was transported to Bethel Police Headquarters on charges of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, traveling too fast and failure to have tail lamps.

He was held on bond for arraignment in Danbury Superior Court.
