Police Blotter: DUI and False Charges

The following information was provided by the Bethel Police Department. A person charged with a crime is not guilty until having been found guilty in court.

 

 

On 12/22/11, Bibi Hamil, 51, Maloney Ave, Poughkeepsie, NY, turned herself in after she learned of a warrant for her arrest. Hamil was charged with Making a False Written Statement after she filed a complaint, which proved to be false, against another person. Hamil was released on a Promise to Appear at on December 30, 2011.

On December 22, Kraig Gallgher, 44, Chestnut Ridge Road, was charged with DUI, Failure to be Fingerprinted and Interfering With an Officer. When police were dispatched to the area of Spring Hill Lane between Fawn Road and Whippoorwill Rd, they arrived to find Gallagher asleep in a running car. The car was in drive and Gallagher's foot was on the brake. Police had to open the door and put the car in park.

When he was woken by the police, Gallagher had no idea where he was, and was unable to stand when removed from the car, which smelled intensely of alcohol, according to the police report.

Gallagher was unable to complete sobriety tests and was arrested. At Gallagher refused to answer any questions, refused to be fingerprinted and refused to submit to a breath test. He was held on a $5,000 bond and was arraigned in Danbury Superior Court on 12/22/11.

Gallagher was charged with a DUI earlier in 2011 after he tried to park a U-Haul on Greenwood Avenue.
