Police Blotter: Car Accident and Cocaine

The following information was provided by the Bethel Police Department. A person charged with a crime is not guilty until having been found guilty in court.

On January 8, Anthony McCrea, 28, of Belmont Circle, Danbury, was charged with DUI, possession of cocaine, and failure to drive right.

At 2:15 a.m., after traveling southbound, McCrea crossed into the oncoming lane and crashed into a yard on Wooster Street, Bethel. When police arrived, they determined that McCrea was under the influence and he was given a field sobriety test.

Police conducted an extensive search of the vehicle with K-9 dog, Asco, who alerted the officers to the presence of a narcotic odor within the car. A search produced a white powder that later tested positive as cocaine.
