Police Arrest Two for Cultivating Marijuana

Bethel Police make two separate arrests on July 26.

Two Arrested for Alleged Marijuana Cultivation

On July 26, around 8 a.m., Bethel Police reportedly obtained and executed a search warrant on Plumtrees Road. The warrant was related to an investigation the department had been conducting "into the cultivation of marijuana" at an address on that road.

Police said a search of the home "produced evidence of the cultivation of marijuana and related charges." Guy Allen, 57, and Ellen Allen, 52, were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of paraphernalia, cultivation and possession within 1,500 feet of a school zone. They were each later released on $5,000 bond and are scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 5.

When police arrived on scene, one of the parties, Frank Masilotti, 49, had left. People on scene reportedly said he had been drinking. Masilotti returned a short time later and, according to police, struck a traffic island and a curb before parking and exiting his vehicle.

Masilotti reportedly "smelled of alcohol and had slow slurred speech and trouble standing and walking." He then failed field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence and operating an unregistered motor vehicle, according to police.

Police also said that during the course of their investigation, they determined Masilotti was wanted by the Danbury Police and Troop A of the Connecticut State Police for two earlier motor vehicle crashes in which the operator fled the scene. Masilotti was eventually processed at Bethel Police headquarters and held on $500 bond.
