Police Arrest Bethel Driver for Cocaine Possession

Incident occurs just before 2 a.m. Thursday morning.

At 1:42 a.m. Thursday morning, the Bethel Police stopped a vehicle with a missing headlight on Route 53 near the Danbury border. Upon the speaking to the driver, Javier Adames of Knollwood Drive in Bethel, the officer detected the odor of burnt marijuana. Adames admitted to the officer that he had smoked marijuana earlier in the evening.

According to the police report, "a subsequent search of the interior of the vehicle revealed four baggies of cocaine with a combined total weight of 2.5 grams."

Adames was arrested, charged with one count of cocaine possession and was later released on $2,500 bond. He is expected to appear in court on June 7 at 9:30 a.m.
