Traffic was closed and detoured around the fire area. Firefighters began to leave the scene by approximately 6:30 p.m.  While it was a small fire, one firefighter said that 500 gallons of water was sprayed to assure that it was completely out.

The owner of 87 Plumtrees, Dave Clark, said the fire was close to his property line and that there were low flames and smoke before the firefighters arrived.  Clark said that he put eight pails of water on the fire before the fire fighters arrived.

Firefighter Justin Renda said that an illegal burn in the same location took place on Sunday.  He said, “Yesterday they had a campfire, today the fire was outside the campfire.”

Firefighters would like residents to remember that there is a Red Flag Alert for fire conditions.
