OMG PD: Nun Catches Alleged Car Thief in the Act

And a five-foot long snake gave a Connecticut man quite the scare when he found it in his yard.

 

A Stratford man who was a passenger in a car allegedly pushed the driver out during a 2011 dispute in Trumbull and drove off. He was recently arrested by warrant.

Also, a telephone number error led to the arrest of a man in a Trumbull office building. Police said the man refused to come out despite orders to do so.

When Hamden police pull a New Haven man over for running through a stop sign, he allegedly ditches his car, leaving behind his 7-year-old son in the vehicle filled with drugs.

With a Corona beer between his legs and the remaining six-pack of beer in his car, a motorist was arrested by Greenwich Police on several charges including drinking while driving.

An unidentified man reportedly masturbated on the phone to a librarian talking about the book, "Fifty Shades of Grey."

Westport police arrested a man who tried to swindle a local business with several fraudulent credit cards.

A couple of positive emergency responder stories out of Stamford this week included Police Chief Robert Nivakoff taking a look back at his 40 years of service after announcing his retirement and the Stamford Fire & Rescue hosting their annual Recognition Ceremony to highlight outstanding service.

The man accused of stealing a $4,000 English bulldog puppy was charged in Norwalk this week. The suspect, who is also accused of almost running over the owner of the store from where the puppy was taken, also has an assault case pending in Bridgeport.

A Pomperaug student began swearing at school staff, punched a wall, threatened to punch an assistant principal and kicked at police after his cell phone was taken away by a teacher, per PHS policy after he was found using it in class.

Stratford police this week arrested two New Yorkers allegedly involved in a credit card scam at area CVS and Walgreens stores.

Time is money and theft is a crime as one Stratford man found out this week after he was charged with stealing more than $1 million worth of Swiss army watches.

A North Carolina man was arrested in Wilton on Sept. 14 after a nun caught him attempting to break into her vehicle. The same man had been arrested in June for stealing from a church in Greenwich.

A Darien teenager was allowed to enter the Post Road through a gap between cars while traffic was stopped. In an attempt to turn left, the 18-year-old driver then rolled her Volkswagen Jetta onto its roof . When the accident occurred at 7:30 p.m. one day last July, the teenager was driving while under the influence of alcohol, said police, who recently arrested her on a warrant.

A Fairfield man was sentenced Thursday to 18 months in prison after from his deceased father.

A Fairfield man was greeted by a 5-foot Northern water snake when he stepped out into his front yard this week. Animal Control identified the snake and released it back into the wild — away from the man's yard.

A man was charged with driving under in the influence in Fairfield after a witness observed him driving in reverse on a main road during this week's wind and rain storm.
