Danbury Man Arrested After Protective Order Violation, Assaulting Police Officers

Man was arrested Sunday evening.

On Sunday, Feb. 27 at 6:15 p.m., the Bethel Police responded to a reported domestic disturbance at residence Maple Row. Upon attempting to arrest Ernesto Rodriguez, 42 of Danbury, for violating a protective order (which stated he were to stay away from the residence), he became violent and assaulted another person present. According to the Bethel Police, Rodriguez resisted arrest and became combative with officers, which resulted in the use of a taser and baton to subdue him.

Bethel officers sustained minor injuries and, along with Rodriguez, were treated and released from the ER at Danbury Hospital. Rodriguez was charged with violating a protective order, assault in the third degree, assault on a police officer, interfering with police and breach of peace. He was also held on $25,000 bond.
