Danbury Woman Arrested for Driving Stolen Car in Bethel

A routine traffic stop for failure to signal a turn leads to arrest for larceny.

Bethel police pulled over a driver for not signaling a left turn early Saturday morning and discovered the car they were driving was stolen.

Officers reported observed a vehicle driving north on Grassy Plain Street shortly after 1:30 a.m. on Oct. 26 and fail to use its turn signal while making a left turn onto Mansfield Street.

After conducting a traffic stop on Mansfield Street, police learned that the vehicle had been stolen in Danbury earlier that day.

The driver, Rachel O’Rourke, 28, of Stars Plain Road, Danbury, was placed under arrest and charged with third degree larceny of a motor vehicle.

O’Rourke was later released on bond with a court date scheduled for Nov. 5.
