Bethel Firefighters Battle Attic Blaze on Reservoir Friday

Fire companies knocked down the flames quickly but damage is extensive.

Bethel Fire Departments received a call for a working fire in the attic of a two and a half story wood frame building on Reservoir Street Friday afternoon. Both the Bethel Fire Department and Stony Hill Company responded to the scene, with mutual aid called in from Danbury and Newtown’s Volunteer Dodgingtown Company, and the blaze was under control by 1 p.m.

The out of town fire companies were released shortly after 1 p.m., but Bethel crews remain on the scene to ensure the fire is completely knocked down (known as overhauling).

There are no injuries reported in the fire but damage to the structure is reportedly severe.
