Bethel Fire Departments Quickly Extinguish Electrical Fire Tuesday Morning

A press release from Fire Marshal Tom Galliford.

On Tuesday morning at 6:11 a.m. the Stony Hill and Bethel Volunteer Fire Departments responded to 6 Berkshire Blvd. in the Berkshire Corporate Park for smoke in the building.

Upon arrival of Stony Hill Engine 3, a moderate smoke condition was found in the lower level of the three-story office building. Firefighters found a large Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) on fire in the electrical room. Firefighters shut the power off to the unit and used a dry chemical fire extinguisher to extinguish the fire.

Due to the size of the building and smoke condition, crews remained on scene for approximately 1.5 hours to secure the scene and remove the smoke from the building.

Units operating included Stony Hill’s Engine 3, Engine 1, Rescue 2 and Bethel FD’s Engine 6.  Approximately 15 volunteer firefighters operated at the scene.

The fire appears to have been an accidental fire in the electrical system of the UPS device.

"Bethel teachers are not only educating students, but when society lets kids down, it’sRead More teachers who step in to fill the gap." Explain to me how an average salary of $60,000 per year for working 183 days during that year and an EXTREMELY generous retirement package (compared to the 240 a year the rest of us have to work) considered "society letting them down"?
